DWA!

Yesterday, we had a "Macey" day and took her to see all kinds of creatures at the Dallas World Aquarium! You'll see in the pictures that she now has a new "cheese" face when I take her pictures. Scrunched up nose and squinty eyes! ha!

We got dressed and went by Chick-fil-a to pick up some lunch, and then headed to Dallas. Once we got there, she stayed in Derrick's arms for most of the time. She was reluctant around the animals at first, but then began warming up. I'm at the point in this pregnancy that I get tired pretty easily, so I can't hold her much, or walk for a long time. It could be the lack of iron as well, but I'm currently on another iron tablet each day.

I ordered an Evenflo car seat off of Walmart.com for $43.00, and because I had it shipped "site to store," we picked it up yesterday afternoon. Once we got it home, Macey took it over and played in it all night! It's a bit "aqua," and I love it, but I'm going to have to add a brown giraffe and really boyish blankets to tone it down :) Sorry Tanner (you'll never know the difference.)

I hope everyone is having a great week. School is a month away!

Crazy for Turquoise

I am dreaming of turquoise! I've always loved this color, and since Tanner's room has shades of it, I can't get enough. I've always thought darker was better for me. Examples: My living room and kitchen are olive green, halls are warm gold, bathrooms are purple/red, and kids room is red. I'm now starting to lean towards white cabinets, etc. I've found a blog, houseofturquoise.com and I'm in love. Our bedroom has one light blue accent wall and I LOVE it!

Derrick and I have been been dreaming of some land by the lake, and I can't get shades of blue and seashells out of my mind! For more of a subtle change, I'm in love with keeping the walls neutral and painting the ceilings with an accent color.

I'm falling in love.....

Can you imagine an tween girls room like this? I'm seeing two shabby chic twin beds with the drama of turquoise, pink, black, and white. Heaven :)

Off to the pool now. Have a great day!

Summer Time!

It's been such a fun summer so far! I've loved being home with my baby girl and we've lived it up at the pool! That basically sums up our summer thus far! Swimming!!!

Since I've been home, I've been able to do some blog reading too and I've found SO many blogs that have inspired me to DIY! I've spent a lot less money just finding some things around the house to use! Most of these projects have made it into Macey and Tanner's room. One side is her play room, one side is his nursery. I ordered his bedding online from Etsy and used most of everything else from Macey. Just spray paint it and sand! His room is a bit floral and feminine, but I figure I can get away with it right now :) I added some touches of leopard, so that makes him manly, right? :) There's plenty of time for all of the camo, monkeys, trucks, etc. :)

DIY: I made two rag wreaths, and a burlap wreath for Tanner. For our bedroom, I used one of my dishes I bought for Macey's b-day to display some pretty bling :) I've been so inspired by all of the shabby chic blogs I've come upon. I wish I could build a house, and start over with new colors of paint, etc. Nesting is getting dangerous!! :)

I'm currently working on Drop Cloth Canvas Curtains for his room (idea from Vanilla Tulip) to close off his room during the day or night. These are 6x9 feet for 9.99 a piece. Perfect size for what we're looking to enclose. I will probably add some white rosette strands to dress them up. Pics coming soon!

Lastly, I've used Picnik and Picasa to edit some pics. Spent most of my day doing so!

Have a great weekend!

P.S. I'm 7 months pregnant and he's 2 lbs. so far! He kicks so hard! I only have some minor pregnancy complaints (heartburn, and anemia.) I'm on some extra iron, and I'm already feeling better.
Little boy's estimated weight for September: 7 1/2 lbs. I've got some blankets for him and some sweet little onesies for his sweet body. I can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!

Back Seat

Blogging is taking a back seat for now. We just got my step daughters for two weeks, so it's been a bit crazy around here!

We've been swimming, making crafts (pics coming) saw Toy Story 3, painting furniture for Macey, getting Tanner's room done (pics coming), went to a wedding, went to Medieval Times, daddy d took them camping, etc.
Wheww.. our day doesn't end until around 10:00 p.m. each night when everyone is finally asleep, besides Derrick and I. I catch up on my t.v. shows, read blogs, facebook, look at etsy, etc.

Life is grand in the summer time! :)

I'm 7 months pregnant, and getting things prepared for my handsome boy. Macey and I went to Babies R Us tonight and got a changing pad, changing pad cover, receiving blankets, blanket, new boppy cover, sleep positioner, and a fabulous Elephant ZooWallogy mural that I can't wait to put up in his room. So ready for a new baby in the house!!!

Take care blog world..... Posts coming soon.....

Pampers Dry Max

I have always chosen Pampers over Huggies during Macey's 2 years of wearing diapers, BUT, I am another parent that is complaining about their new "dry max" addition. It's been on the news that these cause blisters and rashes, and I can attest that we have had the same results. I'm good about cleaning and using destitin, but poor thing has little red bumps all over. I don't know if this is a correlation, but it's possible she developed a UTI over the past week. We were at the hospital with a 104 temp....

We've used these diapers over a month or two, and I am now throwing out the remainder of the diapers left over.

Pampers Dry Max complaints spark federal investigation

Complaints about Pampers leads to federal investigation The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has launched an investigation into parents' complaints that the new version of Pampers diapers, Pampers with Dry Max, is causing rashes, burns and bleeding.

"Anything that occurs with infants we take very seriously," CPSC spokesman Scott Wolfson told Consumer Ally. "It's early in our investigation."

Parents' concerns and mounting complaints on online sites including Pampers' Facebook fan page were first reported by Consumer Ally about two weeks ago. Since then, the number of members of the page has doubled to more than 3,000 and the complaints continue.

Wolfson urged parents who have experienced problems with the diapers to file a complaint with the CPSC by calling its hotline at 800-638-2772, filling out an online form or by emailing the agency at info@cpsc.gov. Wolfson said he did not know how long the investigation would take.

Bryan McCleary, a spokesman for Procter & Gamble, which makes Pampers, said the company welcomes the investigation.

"The CPSC routinely evaluates many consumer products in the marketplace, especially major new product launches," he said. "We have contacted the CPSC to share the extensive safety data related to the Dry Max product. We have a long history of working proactively with this agency and welcome the opportunity to discuss this topic to clear up any misconceptions or misleading information that may exist."

Procter & Gamble said none of the materials used in the new diapers should be responsible for the types of problems that parents are complaining about. The company maintained that the only changes in the new version of the diaper, which just recently became available nationwide, is the design, which includes less filler material.

Nevertheless, questions have been raised about the chemicals used to capture urine in the diapers -- known as polacrylates -- and whether the reduction in other materials in the new diapers could cause greater exposure to them.

McCleary said the company is confident that is not a problem.

"The absorbent gel is separated from the baby's skin by two layers of soft fabric and designed to provide great Pampers dryness," he said. "Extensive safety evaluation and clinical testing indicate that the Dry Max diapers maintain the same healthy skin condition as our previous version."

The company's stance has angered some parents who remain convinced the diapers are responsible for irritation on their children.

Rosana Shah, who started the Facebook page dedicated to getting Pampers to bring back its old version, said she is pleased to see the that federal investigation is taking place.

"I am extremely happy about this. We wanted a watchdog body to take notice and do their own independent research," the Louisiana mother said. "We are just lay consumers and we didn't have the expertise at our disposal to do that."

Shah said she believes whatever was changed in the new Pampers is causing the problems.

Rachel Murray, a Wisconsin mother of an 18-month-old, said she is also convinced it was the diaper that caused her son's rash. She said when she first started using the new Pampers her son develop a "weird diaper rash" that went away immediately after she finished the package and used other diapers she had at home.

She said she didn't notice the pattern until she used the Dry Max diapers again. Within four diaper changes using the Dry Max diapers, the rash reappeared. Once she switched to another diaper, the rash disappeared again, she said. Murray decided to abandon the diapers even though she still has a bunch of packages at home.

New posts!

Check out my baby girl's b-day post down below!

I have a lot on my mind lately. Now that school is out, I'm able to focus on my daughter, my son, my husband. FAMILY. I've searched for new recipes to cook for them, so I thought I would attach the following pics! Can you believe it!? :) I'm not one to post the things I cook because it's usually just ordinary food, take-out, or simply out to eat. I must change this mindset! I need to create weekly menus, especially beginning in September. My, how things are going to change.......

With all of this being said, I have a heavy heart about the following:
For whatever reason, I feel as if I'm entitled to have whatever it is I desire. I always want more for my kids than for myself. I constantly think about their little rooms I'm wanting to create for them, the cutest onesies I saw, the cutest shoes I saw for her, what I don't have, what I need, if only I could afford this, but oh my, I have to have this! Why does the list continue to go on and on? When is enough, ENOUGH!!!

Just a little venting to the blog world......
Here's my food :)

Happy Birthday Macey!

My sweet baby girl just turned 2 at the end of May! We had a blast planning, and creating a small little buffet of candy for the kids to take home. We had a doll house bounce house, along with a snow cone machine. We were joined by wonderful family and friends! Thank all of you who were able to come! I'm thinking from now on though, we need to have her b-days indoors or at a pool. It's too hot in Texas!!!

Big girl got her first Radio Flyer tricycle for her b-day! We chose a retro red/cream bike for her and Tanner to share. It has a guidance pole attached, since she's a bit little to steer and peddle at the same time.

After her b-day at our house, we had a little summer celebration at Nana's for Memorial Day and her b-day. She had a Dora cake, and her and Cam swam outside! They had a blast. Attached are pics of her cake, blowing out candles, etc.

The remainder of pictures are summer time photos at the pool. I hope to be there everyday :)

We just switched her bed too. I'm trying to get her used to sleeping in it before Tanner is in her crib. My little girl is growing up :(

I think that's it for now. We've had a traumatic episode with a "bun bun" aka "rabbit" around our neighborhood. He's usually out each night, and if he gets too close, sister screams, and shakes. I got a convo with her about him. That's soon to come!

Looking ahead at posts to come: decorating around the house, food, Tanner, and misc.
